Twisted Reflections with Shay Fabbro

Today I'm very happy to introduce the amazing Shay Fabbro, multi-published author of the Portals of Destiny, a sci-fi series, and of the young adult series, The Adventures of Alexis Davenport. Here she's going to tell us about Alexis' newest adventure, Twisted Reflections. Okay, Shay, it's your turn...
;)

I have always been fascinated with the idea of time travel. It would be so amazing to travel back in time and observe how people really lived. It’s one thing to use archaeological evidence to hypothesize about how people lived in the past, but to actually be able to observe them going about their daily lives, or to see what their homes looked like and what they ate would be so incredible.

Ah, to see Rome and watch the gladiators perform in the Coliseum, or walk through the streets of an ancient Egyptian city, or watch as druids built Stonehenge. How many mysteries would be solved if only we could travel back in time? Kind of makes me wish that Dr. Who would arrive with his TARDIS and whisk me off to see something no other modern human has ever seen.

Of course, there is always the danger of screwing up the time line. It could spell disaster if an innocent act by a time traveler inadvertently altered the course of history. The repercussions could be disastrous. This is what makes me thankful that no one has managed to invent a time travel device.

In my Adventures of Alexis Davenport series, fifteen-year-old Alex has the unsavory task of protecting the time line from someone trying to alter the past. Not only that, she also has to deal with all of the other things a teenager has to deal with. This poor girl has a lot on her plate! But she’s spunky with a side of sass thrown in for good measure and can handle anything that comes her way.

Thanks so much, Shay! I hope you guys all check out her book ... You can find Twisted Reflections on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.
Peace,
Liv

Shay is a Colorado writer with a doctorate in Human Genetics. She teaches Biology at Mesa State College and can recite whole passages from the original Star Trek from memory. You can find Shay on her...

  1. I love the premise of your story, Shay! One of my favourite shows as a kid was based on time travel. One of my favourite books is Diana Gabaldon's Outlander (actually the whole series) for the way she depicts 18th century Scotland through they eyes of the 20th century heroine who falls in love with Scotsman--well, who wouldn't!

  2. I've always wanted to live in the 1800s for a brief time. And the roaring 20's. But not sure about the bodices... :)

  3. This sounds like such a fabulous book, Shay. The synopsis is intriguing. I, too, love the idea of time travel, but admit that if it were available to me personally, I would likely abuse the privilege. (Huh? Time to cook dinner, do laundry? Nope, I don't think so,I'm just leaving for a spin through King Arthur's court ...) Your story comes across as an adventure well worth taking.

  4. Shay that sounds great. The idea of time travel is so fascinating. Although whenever someone asks me what I would change if I could, I'm usually hesitant--wouldn't want to miss up something that was good the first time around!

    Thanks Liv!

  5. Thanks for the AMAZING comments you guys! :D I have to check out Diana Gabaldon's series. I've heard a LOT about it! I'd be nervous about time travel but I'm not sure I could stop myself! LOL I often wonder what would happen if I were a history professor (rather than biology) and could take my students back to witness historical events rather than just talk about them! Bet a LOT more students would like history ;)
